Position Summary
Responsible for coordinating and managing the day-to-day electrical field operations of Portsmouth Dry Dock project, including safe work practices, workforce, materials, and equipment. Plan, lay-out areas of work in advance to ensure needed allocation of daily workforce, material, and equipment. In charge of crew's install, test and repair wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, motors, equipment and control systems in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes and industry standards.

Experience Level
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience required running industrial level / shipyard scale electrical projects.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties
  • Responsible for coordinating and managing the day-to-day field operations of projects, including safe work practices, workforce, materials, and equipment.
  • Supervises, mentors, and motivates company workforce on the project.
  • Work closely with electrical superintendent to oversee and ensure the assigned scope of work is completed per customer safety, schedule, and quality requirements.
  • Plan and lay out areas of work in advance to ensure needed allocation of daily workforce, material, and equipment.
  • Coordinate all electrical work with superintendents and subcontractors on project.
  • Monitor workforce during installations and progress to ensure quality control throughout project.
  • Inspect crew's work for compliance with the contract plans and specifications, point out deficiencies and explain and take any corrective action needed.
  • Manage daily progress reports and weekly time sheets for project workforce.
  • Receive material and verify shipment quantities match material Purchase Orders.
  • Track company tools and equipment and ensure they are maintained in good working order.
  • Ensures crews are performing their work safely and perform weekly / daily safety walks.
  • Interprets drawings, sketches, software, plans and determines best work procedures, tools, equipment needed to troubleshoot and repair problems
  • Work with high and low voltage systems
  • Disassembles and repairs defective electrical equipment or systems
  • Operate electrical and mechanical hand tools, power, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical tools
  • Estimating sizes, distances, and quantities; or determining time, costs, resources, or materials needed to perform a work activity.

Qualifications
â May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area.
â Must possess strong working knowledge skills and abilities for position.
â Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision.
â Proficient in the safe and efficient use of electrical, hand tools, power tools and layout tools as well as measurement tools

Requirements
  • Most be able to obtain access onto the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard:
    • Must be a U.S. Citizen
    • Must not be a convicted felon (charges over 10 years old are not considered)
    • Must not have any unresolved outstanding arrests or court cases.
    • Must not have any sex offender convictions.
    • Must have either a US Passport or a Real ID Driver's License to enter the CIA.
  • Maine or New Hampshire state electrical license preferred.
  • Expected to climb and work at heights and in confined spaces (may exceed 200 ft)
  • Observe and comply with all safety and project rules. Performs other duties as required.
  • Ability to read and understand construction blueprints and schematics.
  • Must have verifiable work experience.
  • Excellent organizational skills with careful attention to detail and timely follow-through.
  • Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be self-directed and capable of handling multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Able to work effectively in stressful, time-sensitive environments.
  • Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • High standard of integrity and professionalism.
  • Able to meet all physical requirements.
  • Must have all required tools
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Able to work overtime, nights, and weekends as required by the workload
