Job Summary Tax Law Specialist (TLS) position is in the Property Tax Oversight (PTO) Program, Compliance Assistance Process. It assists in the rulemaking process for the PTO program. Responsibilities include identifying rules to amend or draft based on legislation, court case outcomes, or process changes. The position will prepare and review rule packages, research statutes and the current Florida Administrative Code, plan logistics for public meetings, track comments, update the Department's website, report progress on rule packages, maintain the annual rule regulatory plan, draft responses to rule questions, organize rule files, and assist in the rule review project. Minimum Requirements A minimum of three years of experience with preparing rule packages with knowledge of the provisions in Chapter 120, Administrative Procedures Act, Florida Statutes, and rule promulgation. A minimum of three years of experience in researching statutes and rules. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint. Preferences Bachelor's degree from an accredited university/college in communications, business, social science, or related fields. Knowledge of policies, procedures, and methodologies pertaining to property taxes as set forth in the Florida Statutes and Florida Administrative Code Rules. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Preference will be given to applicants with a minimum of three years of experience providing written and verbal technical assistance.
